Kenshinryu Aikido

The Kenshinryu was originally formed in 1991 as a full time provider of the traditional Japanese martial art of Yoshinkan Aikido. In 2000 it expanded its syllabus to include instruction in Shinto Muso Ryu.

the goal

The goal of this web design project was to create an informative and visually appealing website for Kenshin, a traditional Japanese martial arts organisation based in Palmwoods, Queensland. The website needed to effectively communicate the organisation’s offerings, philosophy, and rich history while catering to the needs of current and prospective students.

Key features of the website included:

  • A clear and intuitive navigation structure, allowing visitors to quickly find relevant information.
  • Responsive design, ensuring optimal viewing experiences across various devices.
  • Visually striking design elements, capturing the essence of traditional Japanese martial arts.
  • Dedicated sections for class information, instructor profiles, news and events, and multimedia content.
  • Prominent calls-to-action, encouraging visitor engagement and inquiries.

our process

Information Architecture: The first step was to organise the website’s content into a clear and intuitive structure. The main sections included an overview of the organisation, class information (schedules, fees, and programs), instructor profiles, a gallery/video section, news and events, and membership details.

Visual Identity: To capture the essence of Kenshin’s traditional roots, the design incorporated elements inspired by Japanese aesthetics, such as minimalist layouts, subtle textures, and a colour palette dominated by earthy tones and accents of red.

User Experience: The website was designed with a responsive layout to ensure optimal viewing experiences across various devices. Clear calls-to-action were strategically placed throughout the site, encouraging visitors to inquire about classes, sign up for the newsletter, or become members.

Content Integration: Existing content, such as testimonials, instructor biographies, and event descriptions, was seamlessly integrated into the website’s design, providing visitors with valuable information and insights.

Multimedia Integration: To showcase the organisation’s activities and techniques, a dedicated video section was created, featuring demonstrations and instructional videos.
